Is Corrosion in harsh environments a concern, is access a problem?
Dangle Rope Access is an award-winning family business. Our core values are built around commitment, unified leadership, stability, trust and authenticity.
We adopt a flexible and versatile approach with our clients and, as a result, we have collaborated with a wealth of businesses to deliver successful outcomes. We recently collaborated with DEME and Smulder in order to manage and oversee elements of the Moray East Offshore Wind Farm project.
What Did We Do?
As part of this offshore wind project, we worked on Scotland's highly publicised and latest offshore windfarm - the Moray East, which is expected to provide enough electricity to power 40% of Scottish homes. This was an exciting opportunity for our rope access painting teams to demonstrate our high quality of work, diverse skillset, and commitment to safety.
We worked with the Tier 1 EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction, and installation) contractor GEOSEA which was formed as a joint venture between DEME Offshore and Smulders Belgium. Dangle Rope Access were brought in for our access and coating expertise to evaluate damages and perform paint rectification work, after a competitive round of tendering.
The Problem
The client experienced significant difficulty in identifying an expert coating contractor who could also access the offshore jackets due to working above water and in such a remote location, approximately 22km from shore. This was one of the main reasons why they called upon Dangle to help.
The client also faced problems completing the painting requirements needed and, because they were working with brand new assets, the finish needed to be exceptional before they handed them over to the end client, Moray Offshore Wind Farm (East) Ltd.
Our Solution
We were tasked with utilising our years of coating experience and combined use of rope access as a safe system of work. We used our knowledge, skills, and expertise in the fields of access and coatings to complete the project to the highest possible standard.
The coating process involved the correct surface preparation and application of industrial trade paints on steel surfaces. These coatings, combined with our offshore painting services, allowed us to provide the EPCI contractor with a seamless service and the right level of protection to steel jacket substrates, against corrosion. As an industrial painting company, we offer a wide range of SSPC Train the Painter and paint services to meet every type of need, and no matter what the access requirements maybe, we get there in a safe, fast and efficient way.
Rope access systems and industrial rope access solutions are renowned for being a highly safe method of working at height. We use the very best twin ropes and associated specialist equipment in order to gain access.
The Result
The client was extremely impressed with the end result and happy with the high standard of work completed, inviting and awarding Dangle further work.
