Dangle Rope Access is celebrating after becoming the latest company in Scotland to exceed living wage, becoming a rope access employer that has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer.
Dangle Rope Access is based in Scotland, a region where nearly a fifth of all jobs (17%) pay less than the real Living Wage, which is around an eye-watering 380,000 jobs. Despite this, Dangle has committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a “fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.”
Simon Dunn, Managing Director, Dangle said: “Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at Dangle receive a minimum hourly wage of £9.30 in the UK or £10.75 in London. Both rates are significantly higher than the government minimum for over 25s, which currently stands at £8.72 per hour.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage that they can live on, not just the government minimum.
Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 230,000 people and put over £1 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.
Simon Dunn, Managing Director, Dangle said: "Dangle is committed to training and developing all our employees and creating opportunities in line with the Company Core Values and Business Plans.
“We fully recognise the importance of setting clear targets for performance to enable employees to meet both personal and corporate goals, so it is our aim to provide a working environment that promotes personal development, equal opportunity, recognises an international, diverse workforce and encourages loyalty and commitment to our Company.
We are delighted to be now recognised by the UK's Living Wage Foundation for providing the necessary resources to allow us here to be explicit in our message of carefully selecting and placing employees to ensure that the correct person is in the correct place at the correct time."
Dangle Rope Access strives to deliver efficient use of manpower when it comes to facilitating the ability and potential of all employees, so that they benefit from fair rates of pay that exceeds the minimum living wage and are consistent with local market rates for similar rope access jobs
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Dundee based Dangle Rope Access has joined the movement of over 6000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Chelsea and Everton Football Clubs, Lush, and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like Dangle, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay."
